Events in Smiley's Hometown - Worcester, MA
This year marked the 10th time we have celebrated World Smile Day®. As in past years, we will observe the day in Worcester, flying the smiley face flag at City Hall. Once again we broadcast World Smile Day® greetings from Worcester City Hall courtesy of WCRN Radio (AM 830) and delivered smiles and treats throughout the greater Worcester area.
Send A Smile To A Soldier

The late Harvey Ball, creator of the smiley face and World Smile Day®, was an infantryman in WWII and later served his country for many years as a reservist, retiring as a Brigadier General.
To honor his memory and all those who serve in harm’s way, the Harvey Ball World Smile Foundation teamed up with the famous Eleni’s Bakery in Manhattan to send packages of smiley cookies to US soldiers serving overseas. We sent a box of ten 4", individually wrapped smiley face cookies in thew donors name to a US soldier serving in Iraq or Afghanistan. That soldier, in turn, distributed the cookies to other soldiers with whom he or she is serving. The cookies were delivered in time for World Smile Day®, Friday October 3rd.
