World Smile Day® 2000
In 2000, school children and citizens of Worcester joined the celebration held at Worcester Center Galleria. The ceremonies included speeches by Worcester City Manager, Thomas Hoover, Charles Ball (Harvey's son) and others. A musical program was presented by the chorus from the Seven Hills Charter School and featured a variety of songs including "The Smiley Face Song" and the debut of "We're all pieces of a jigsaw puzzle".
This year also marked the creation of "World Smile Ambassadors" and local school children were recognized for their accomplishments and acts of good will throughout the year with trophies and gifts. A barbershop quartet from the Men of Song organization also performed and included "Smile and the World Smiles With You".
The culmination of the event was Harvey Ball completing the "World's largest Smiley Face jigsaw puzzle and autographing it. View photos of the celebration in the WSD '00 photo gallery or watch the video below.
