WORLD SMILE DAY®

In 2004, Worcesterites gathered by The Worcester Centrum where the Harvey Ball World Smile Foundation, created in 2002 to honor Harvey Ball's name and legacy, combined fun and philanthropy and sponsored a "Where's Smiley" contest.  This contest required entrants to identify the Worcester location where smiley was photographed. The Foundation awarded a $10,000.00 grant to the contest winner; a Worcester based non-profit organization, Poetry Oasis, Inc.

This year also featured a Smiley Face hot air balloon towering over into the Worcester Skyline to bring attention to the day when people around the world "Do an act of kindness and help others smile".
